Humanity Oriented Welfare Services, known simply as HOWS, was founded on one steady conviction: that the core purpose of life is to serve humanity. We are a purpose-driven, nonprofit organization working across Pakistan to bring healthcare, education, and social welfare to the families and communities who need it most. Every week, our volunteers and partners step into underserved neighborhoods, remote villages, and struggling households, not simply to hand out aid, but to restore dignity, rebuild hope, and open a real path forward.
This first article is an introduction to who we are, why we exist, and how, together, we are working to build healthier, stronger, and more inclusive communities for a brighter future.
Why HOWS Exists
Across Pakistan, millions of people still live without reliable access to a doctor, a classroom, or any kind of safety net when a crisis strikes. A sudden illness can push an entire family into debt. A child kept out of school can lose a lifetime of opportunity. A widow or a daily-wage worker can be left with nowhere to turn. For far too many people, opportunity remains a privilege rather than a right.
HOWS was created to help change this reality. We believe that no child should be denied an education because of poverty, that no patient should be turned away because they cannot pay, and that no family should have to face hardship alone. Our journey began with a simple but powerful idea held by our founder and our team: that true progress begins with care and dignity. From that idea grew a community of people determined to turn compassion into concrete help, and to make sure it reaches the places where it is needed most.
Our Mission
Our mission is to uplift underserved communities through compassionate healthcare, quality education, and meaningful social welfare. We pursue this by mobilizing dedicated volunteers, strengthening partnerships with like-minded institutions, and putting community-led solutions into action, solutions that are designed with local people rather than imposed upon them. In everything we do, we aim to empower individuals, inspire lasting change, promote sustainability, and create positive impact that is firmly rooted in humanity and equality.
Our Vision
We envision a world where compassion leads progress and every individual lives with dignity, opportunity, and hope. We picture inclusive communities that enjoy equal access to healthcare, education, and social support, where people are not only helped through a difficult moment but are genuinely empowered to thrive, grow, and contribute to society for years to come. This vision shapes every program we design and every partnership we build.
What We Do
HOWS delivers its mission through five core programs, each addressing a different but connected need. Our Health Care program brings free medical camps, health awareness campaigns, and preventive care to communities that would otherwise go without. Our Education program promotes literacy, life skills, and quality learning for both children and adults. Our Social Welfare program provides food, shelter, and essential aid to vulnerable families in their most difficult moments. Our Legal Aid Cell offers free legal guidance, support, and advocacy so that access to justice is not reserved only for those who can afford it. Our Women Empowerment program invests in education, skill development, and leadership so that women can build confidence, achieve independence, and help their whole communities rise.
These programs do not work in isolation. A mother who receives care at a health camp is better able to work and provide for her children. The Values That Guide Us
Three values sit at the heart of HOWS. The first is humanity: we put people first and treat everyone we meet with compassion, dignity, and respect, whatever their circumstances. The second is integrity: we act with honesty and transparency, making sure that every effort and every rupee entrusted to us turns into real, accountable impact. The third is equality: we believe opportunity is a right rather than a privilege, and we serve every community fairly and without discrimination. These are not words for a wall; they are the standards we hold ourselves to in every camp, classroom, and conversation.
How We Create Lasting Change
Real change rarely comes from short-term charity alone. It comes from a patient process of listening, empowering, and sustaining. We begin by engaging directly with communities to understand their genuine needs before we design a single program. We then mobilize volunteers and local partners to deliver support in a way that builds long-term self-reliance instead of dependency. Finally, we measure our results and reinvest what we learn, so that each initiative becomes more effective than the last. This community-led and sustainable approach is what allows one medical camp or one literacy class to ripple outward into lasting progress.

And we want to promote equality, inclusion, and sustainable development that lasts well beyond any single project. We measure our progress in the number of people who receive care, the growth in literacy and skills, the rise in economic independence, and the active participation of volunteers who choose to give back.
